FEED MY PEOPLE I volunteer a weekly shift at Feed My People Food Pantry and Thrift Store, where I have evolved from a dockworker to a handy-dude and kind of a go-to problem solver. I've even helped with some marketing and design.
U of MO/STL I was asked to participate with a 3-year position on the Board of The University of Missouri/St. Louis Advisory Council.
SIUC While working at D'Arcy, I was asked by Southern Illinois University at Carbondale to give some lectures on "Advertising Creativity and the Professional Creative Process." I did 2 lectures and they quickly added a third for their Creative Writing program, all done in one day.
WEBSTER UNIVERSITY/St. Louis While at Schupp Co., I was asked by Webster University to give a talk and then judge and direct rewrites for a filmaking class/scriptwriting competition. They asked again the following 2 years but I was on the road.
THE MUSAEUM LIBRARY From 2013 to 2017, I was invited to help an old friend convert a fabulous and abandoned Carnegie Library into some kind of an educational facility. As VP/General Manager/Communications Director I helped develop the classic old building into The Musaeum Library, a break-through and exciting educational endeavor which was doomed from the start by mismanagement. (Not mine) See the brochure I wrote and designed below. The creation of this brochure was an exercise in directing the Musaeum "Executive Director" and defining exactly what the entity should become. For 3 years it looked like it was going to work beautifully. The community, politicians, public and private academia was 100% behind it. If successful, my dream was to expand it to many of the thousands of old Carnegie Libraries around the world. Alas, the idea was destroyed internally, so I finally had to say a sad farewell to one of the most exciting endeavors I helped create, and in leaving, ensured its demise. A sad tale of great lost potential. If you have a big budget, and an adventurous need to support such an amazing and child centered endeavor, I may have a way to resurrect this. Otherwise it just sits there as a big empty temple to one artist's ego.
