MULTI-MEDIA NOISEMAKER - Out to pasture

I always liked to draw and almost completed a fine art major at Siue

It took me 56 hours to draw this 35" x 56"  (SIZE?) with graphite pencil on expensive fancy art paper. It hung in the University Center Gallery for 2 years and was the largest pencil drawing in SIUE Art School history.. I was offered $500 for it once. I shoulda drawn it on a Litho stone and printed a hundred of them. (From a photo by my friend John Wilkes.)

This was part of a series of "Legendary Engines" I sold as t-shirt designs on ebay and on my own retail website. I went for the most iconic engines among the most hard core motorheads: Harley Knucklehead (this one,) Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution, Indian Chief, Chevy Small Block V-8, and Ford Flathead V-8. I sold over a thousand to folks all over the world.

I called these "Technical Cartoons." This is  the legendary Chevy Small Block V-8 first produced in 1955.

"Whadya want for Mother's Day?"

"Oh just get me a nice photo of you and the boys"

Okay. I borrowed a pro NIKON camera, lights and black flags from my friend and cinematographer (and musician) Jack Twesten. The Beatles parody was a good composition for 4 faces - and a huge hit with Liz and all her friends and family.

Another t-shirt idea I thought would go viral and spin off into postcards and coffee cups and beer mugs, posters, beachtowels and who knows. My drawing wasn't good enough so I had my pro-illustrator friend and former room-mate, Steve Deshetler, do it for a percentage of sales. So far we've both earned $0.00.

When I was a kid I loved Dinosaurs. So I made sure my boys loved dinosaurs, too.  We decided Allosaurus was cooler than Tyrannosaurus Rex but there wasn't any good art of them, so I drew this quick and huge cartoon for the wall in their toy room. Huge like 60x40 in.

I wanted to make a poster for each boy's birthday but it was hard to find the time to get home from work and I was on the road. ALOT. I decided to just make one poster party invitation for each boy's 6th birthday. These are colored pencil on drawing paper. about 11in. x 17. in. Batman was a favorite and he used to pose in the mirror and flex his scrawny limbs as though he had "big muscles."
